Community Crisis Service Pilot

The City has launched a new community crisis service pilot that will provide a community-led solution to respond to mental health crisis calls and wellness checks. The pilot aims to better support community health, wellness and safety by introducing an alternative model of crisis response that is community-led, person centred, trauma informed and focused on harm reduction.

The new service will be facilitated alongside four community partners. In Scarborough – Rouge Park, TAIBU Community Health Centre was selected to serve the northeast region of the city. The pilot is beginning this spring and will allow the City to evaluate and revise a non-police-led crisis response before implementing it on a larger scale.

After an evaluation period, the program is expected to expand city-wide by 2025. More information on the pilot is available here.
