Happy Family Day –
Weekend Activities in Ward 25
February 11, 2021
Happy Family Day! This weekend is a great time to get outdoors for some exercise and winter fun with your household, while following public health advice. A listing of all City of Toronto winter activities is available by clicking here.
For those who prefer to stay inside, the City has compiled a list of over 100 free recreation, exercise, arts and culture activities for all ages. You can tour a museum exhibit; watch a live concert; play interactive games or even try do-it-yourself science experiments. See the full list by clicking here.
This week, I got my hands dirty by building my own greenhouse with one of the City's Stay, Play and Learn at Home resources. It was great to get a head start on spring planting, using materials that I had around the house. I'm looking forward to seeing the plants grow over the next few months. See the video below and make your own!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful long weekend,
The Toronto Zoo

The Toronto Zoo will also be continuing Zoo to You, a daily drop-in Facebook Live session at 1:00 p.m. These sessions showcase different animals and share what goes into their care. To view Zoo to You, click here.
Explore a Ravine with Evergreen!
Lace up your boots and head out on a ravine adventure! To help celebrate the City's ravine network, the City of Toronto has partnered with the national not-for-profit, Evergreen, to publish a Ravine Play Activity Book.
Through this guide, children are encouraged to learn about the unique water courses that connect throughout our City, while engaging their senses and exploring the natural world.
The book includes 7 activities for kids, from ravine bingo to an animal tracking guide. Children will learn all about the plants and animals that live in ravines, as well as how ravines were formed. There are also colouring and nature craft activities. To download a PDF copy of the Ravine Play Activity Book, click here.
There are 150 ravines in Toronto. Ravines provide many important ecological services and amazing recreation opportunities. To find a ravine close to you, click here.
