Emergency Child Care for Essential Workers – City of Toronto

On March 28, the Province of Ontario authorized the City of Toronto to provide emergency child care for children of essential and critical service workers.

For eligibility, you must be required to report to an official work location to deliver the service, without the ability to work from home. City staff required to report to an official work location to deliver core essential services are also eligible.  If you are an essential service worker who works in the City of Toronto, but do not reside in Toronto, you will also be an eligible worker.

This list of eligible workers has been identified in the Province of Ontario’s list of workers eligible for emergency childcare, and will continue to be updated and change as required.

The Centre serving residents of East-Scarborough is located in our Ward of Scarborough – Rouge Park, Malvern Early Learning and Child Care, 1321 Neilson Rd. (Sewells/Neilson).

For members of our community who are essential service-workers, this licensed childcare will be available at no cost to families for children under 12 years old. City staff will be ensuring COVID-19 precautions are taken, including increased disinfection and social distancing when possible.
